Long time Peckham residents Oz & Sheena started Zephyr in 2017 with an idea to create a California inspired street food brand. The name Zephyr plays a homage to a surfboard shaper of the same name in Santa Monica in the 1970s who played a huge part in the story of Dog Town and Z-Boys.
Having spent a lot of time working in Los Angeles over the years Oz became obsessed with the way Angelenos do food. At the start of 2018 he and Sheena took a road trip around the Golden State hitting up plenty of burger joints, food trucks and the shop that Zephyr Surfboards once occupied (now a coffee shop called Dog Town Coffee where they have some of the original skateboard on display)
Trading at lunch markets with Kerb and running a Kitchen takeover at local pub The Great Exhibition they were able to really hone their menu and eventually decided that burgers were the way to go. Going from strength to strength 2018 was a busy year for Zephyr seeing them sling burgers
