Claypool Appraisal Service was founded in 1978. John Claypool and his wife, Connie, made the decision to begin their own appraisal company after working with Mr. Maurice Koelsch at Longview Mortgage Co., James D. Eaton, MAI, of Eaton & Associates and with Mr. Larry Juell at C.U.S., Inc. over a span of four years. Each of these men had a large impact on John, as teachers and mentors, in regard to how business and, specifically, the appraisal of residential real estate, were to be conducted. For many years, before their three sons needed their own rooms, the home office was perfect for the needs of the fledgling company. Then, an office was leased at the Monticello Hotel for many years. In 1996, John and Connie built a separate office at their residence, which serves their needs well.John's son, Josh, who had worked for the company during many high school and college summers, graduated from Washington State University and fulfilled his experience requirements to secure his residential appraiser's certification in December of 2003. Together, their area of expertise includes Cowlitz, Wahkiakum and the southerly portion of Pacific County. The company has served lenders, attorneys, businesses, government entities and individuals over the years. While John still enjoys appraising residential real estate, he is happy that his company will serve another generation of clients through Josh. We thank our clients of the last 28 years and look forward to serving you for another 28 years.
