About

Introduction Built in 1856 as a traditional Scottish church, the Old Kirk is now a 4 star B&B in the heart of Scotland's castle and malt whisky trails. Full Scottish breakfast is included, using local produce where possible. Our menu includes a full cooked Scottish breakfast. Why not try the local butcher's excellent haggis with bacon and scrambled egg and potato bread, or Hilary's own special porridge, cooked with cream and cinnamon? Early and late check in times are usually available by request, and the hosts, Hilary and Herbie, can also arrange free pick up and drop off at the local train station. They are also happy to recommend and book a table at one of the excellent local restaurants. Our rooms We have three guest rooms. All are ensuite with showers, our twin room also has a bath. All three feature exposed stonework and arched windows. Guests have the use of a separate guest library and lounge with comfortable sofas, set beneath the church's original stained glass window. As the Kirk is fully centrally heated you can be assured of a warm welcome with us even if you are brave enough to visit Bonnie Scotland outside our summer months Local attractions Attractions include Brodie Castle, a short walk away. Visitors also enjoy visits to the nearby ancient Royal Burgh of Forres, reputedly the oldest recorded in Scotland and repeated winner of the Britain and Scotland in Bloom awards and home to two distilleries. Also Sueno's stone, the largest Pictish carved stone. Findhorn river, bay, village and eco-community are also close at hand. A journey of ten miles south takes you to Pluscarden Abbey, open to the public and the only surviving working British medieval monastery. Cawdor Castle is also a short drive away. For those wishing to venture further, the Highlands, Cairngorm mountains and Spey valley are all easily reachable using The Old Kirk as your base.
