About

James Dykes Funeral Service was established in 1961 by James Dykes who came from a varied working background, most predominantly as a coal merchant.

He retired in 1998 and passed away in 1999. George Collins, his second cousin, began working at the funeral home in 1984 and has continued to carry the good name of James Dykes Funeral Service through Newmilns and beyond.

The team at our funeral home will provide advice at every stage and will arrange a unique funeral to help you celebrate the life of your loved one. We also offer Choice Funeral Plans which enable you to record your personal wishes and pay towards your funeral in advance, which could provide peace of mind to you and your family.

If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, please come and see us, or arrange a home visit. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone.
