Our optometrist at Early Years Eyecare, Ian Schofield, has specialised in NHS paediatric eye care for the past 20 years, and was a general optometrist for 25 years previously. He still works some of time as an NHS hospital paediatric optometrist.
In addition to full eye examinations, Early Years Eyecare also assesses and practices "myopia control". Progressive myopia, also known as short-sightedness, has rapidly become a major visual problem globally. It is especially associated with prolonged near vision work for example using laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Personalised advice will be given and some individuals may benefit from specialised myopia control lenses.
Early Years Eyecare specialise in clinical optometry. You will not be put under any pressure to have spectacles or any other optical appliance dispensed with us. Most dispensing is limited to the smaller group of children and young people who require the very specialised myopia control lenses.
