At North Yorkshire Citizens Advice we currently have three advisers who cover different areas but all offer the same advice and support. The way we deliver the project is as follows.
This service is provided by three experienced Benefits Advisers funded by Macmillan and York Against Cancer. The advisers provide advice and practical support to patients, their carers and family members on a range of issues such as benefit entitlement, debt, housing, employment, travel costs etc. They also provide information about other sources of financial help available to people affected by cancer.
The advice is delivered via telephone, email, home visits, appointments arranged in the hospitals or appointments arranged in our local Citizens Advice offices.
We have three advisers who all work full time covering Hambleton, Richmond, Scarborough, Whitby, Selby and Ryedale. We have an adviser based in the Friarage Hospital Wednesdays and Thursdays, and an adviser in Scarborough Hospital Mondays and Thursdays.
