Since opening in Spring 2008, Memento has won awards and press coverage in magazines such as Ulster Tatler and Ireland’s Homes Interiors and Living, but more importantly we have won many loyal customers. The shop is filled with an eclectic mix of unusual design-led gifts from Northern Irish artists including handmade jewellery, textiles, paintings and photography, as well as showcasing international designer brands such as Moulin Roty, Portmeirion, and Gisela Graham. Memento is also renowned for its superb selection of hand-made cards to suit every special occasion.
My name is Maggie Sutherland and Memento is my pride and joy! With my background being in design, I’ve always had a love of beautiful and unusual things. Each item in Memento is hand chosen by me personally with an emphasis on high quality, well priced and unique gifts that you may want to keep for yourself instead of giving to others! After many years of studying and working abroad, my aim was to return to the beautiful North Antrim Coast, where I was born and raised and to open a shop influenced by my travels and experiences. To me, Memento has a dream location….in lovely Portrush, next to the famous East Strand beach, and with an enviable view of the Skerries and Atlantic ocean from the shop window every day!
