The American Society of Appraisers is the nation's oldest and largest interdisciplinary appraisal organization. Founded in 1936, the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is a union of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. International in structure, it is self-supporting and independent and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists. Its members provide appraisals in the disciplines of business valuation, gems & jewelry, machinery & technical specialties, personal property and real property (real estate).
