Wenn Berlin-Besucher auf den Spuren des alten Berlins sind und echte Berliner Luft schnuppern wollen, dann sollte man eine der ältesten Kneipen-Gaststätten dieser Stadt besuchen: das „Wilhelm Hoeck 1892“ in Berlin Charlottenburg, unweit der „Deutschen Oper“. Noch heute wird das Lokal von Künstlern der Oper nach Proben und Aufführungen gerne besucht. Auch nationale und internationale Filmproduktionen und Stars wie Brigitte Horney, Manfred Krug, Bud Spencer und Tom Hanks waren begeisterte Gäste. Der original erhaltene mit Holz und Spiegeln getäfelte Schankraum entführt den Besucher in die Zeit von Zilles „Milljöh“, mit echter Fassbrause vom Hahn und verschiedenen Bieren vom Fass.
Die alten Schnapsfässer und „Gluckerflaschen“ erinnern an die Zeit, als das Wilhelm Hoeck 1892 noch an eine Likörfabrik angeschlossen und der heutige Schankraum eine Degustation (Probierstube) war. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstörte ein Bombeneinschlag die Likörfabrik, die Gaststätte blieb glücklicherweise verschont.
Damals wie heute ist das Wilhelm Hoeck ein Treffpunkt für Studenten und viele Legenden umranken die Gaststätte. Eine davon besagt, dass der Studentenführer Rudi Dutschke einen Teebeutel an die Decke geschleudert haben soll, welcher im Original erhaltenen Interieur einen Ehrenplatz hat.
Seit 1954 ist dem Wilhelm Hoeck eine Restauration angeschlossen in der authentische Berliner Speisen angeboten werden.
