The Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) is a charitable trust that has been providing quality early childhood education since 1908.
The AKA is New Zealand's largest kindergarten association with over 9,000 children going to one of our 107 public kindergartens throughout Auckland every week. Our Kindys provide the highest quality service and the organisation is widely respected.
At all the Kindys we employ only fully qualified teachers, who have an early childhood teaching diploma as a minimum qualification and hold a current Teacher Registration Practising Certificate.
Our Kindys reflect the diversity of New Zealand society, and are open to all children and their families. Cultural diversity is celebrated for its ability to enhance and enrich the learning environment.
Our philosophy
The AKA values an enriching, safe and dynamic learning environment for children. Our Kindys are accessible, non-discriminatory, and open to the diversity of the children and whanau who attend.
We view your child as capable, competent, life-long learners. Children are encouraged to make their own learning choices, problem solve, observe and explore at their own pace, with support from teachers, families/whanau and their peers. We value the importance of child initiated, play based experiences.
The AKA values the ongoing learning of teachers, parents and whanau. We believe the sharing of knowledge, skills and attributes is fundamental to achieving the best learning outcomes for children.
