Bank of the Commonwealth opened its first office in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1971. Our goal was to create a community bank that was attuned to local issues and could respond to the needs of local citizens and businesses. Our employees are members of civic, charitable, and social organizations such as the Greater Norfolk Corporation, the Heart Association, the Diabetes Foundation, the Norfolk SPCA, the Arthritis Foundation, the Tidewater Business Financing Corporation, and the Rotary Club.
