Jay Jenkins Jr. opened South Plains Communications in Amarillo in January 2007. In November 2013, he and his wife started CommTech, LLC. CommTech continues to offer the same communication products and services, while advancing with the industry. Jay’s experience began in the early 1990s, when he worked alongside his father installing and repairing two-way radio equipment and completing tower projects around West Texas. Today, as he continues to work in the industry, he carries on his father’s legacy and the culture of family business.
Jay and his wife, Kami, live in Amarillo and enjoy traveling and outdoor sports and activities. They are involved with their church and other community organizations such as High Plains Children’s Home, Children’s Emergency Home of Amarillo, DiscipleTrips, Center City, WT Enterprise Center, United Way, and other nonprofit organizations. One of their favorite events has been 24 Hours in the Canyon, which is a road and mountain bike race that benefits the local cancer survivorship clinic. For the past four years, they have provided their communication needs and participated as riders.
