Aamir Siddiqui, MD, is a Neurohospitalist for Neurology Specialists, practicing at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan in San Antonio.The idea of becoming a physician was imprinted on Neurohospitalist Dr. Aamir Siddiqi early in life. “My grandfather would tell me about how, in this profession, as you grow old and collect experience, you become even more valuable, which isn’t always the case in other fields,” says Dr. Siddiqi. While he originally considered other specialties, Dr. Siddiqi was drawn to the challenging and dynamic field of neurology. “There were exciting new treatment discoveries in neurology and with the aging population I knew there would always be a demand for neurologists,” he says.
After completing his undergrad, medical school and internship in Pakistan, Dr. Siddiqi came to the United States where he completed an externship with the Department of Infectious Disease at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by an internship in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburg Shadyside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Neurology at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he honed his clinical skills under the tutelage of exceptional teachers and gained experience with a diverse patient population. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Neurology at Saint Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Siddiqi practiced inpatient and outpatient neurology in St. Louis for four years before relocating to San Antonio in 2005 where he spent 10 years in a solo inpatient and outpatient neurology practice affiliated with Methodist Healthcare System. Dr. Siddiqi practiced outpatient neurology prior to joining Methodist Physicians | Neurology Specialists in early 2019.
Certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Siddiqi is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Society and Texas Neurological Society. He sees acutely ill hospitalized neurological patients at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan.
