Dr. Yong Choi joined St. Luke's Health-The Woodlands Hospital as a minimally invasive surgeon. He brings with him decades of expertise to help patients in life-changing ways. After graduating from the Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Choi attended the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He would go on to serve as the Commander of the Forward Surgical Team at Fort Hood, perform his minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, and take on positions of leadership at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA, caring for service personnel and their families.
As a Houston native, Dr. Choi returned home after retiring from active duty, bringing his decades of military precision into the work he performs at our Heartburn & Acid Reflux Institute. Dr. Choi has had multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and is also on the editorial board of a peer-reviewed journal. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and serves on several committees within the society.
