Cookes are a large engineering company originally founded in 1862 under the name of William Cooke & Company in the U.K, then in 1911 an office was opened in Auckland to handle the distribution of wire rope and associated products in New Zealand.Cookes operate New Zealand’s only wire rope and strand manufacturing plant, and have 13 branches nationwide.Cookes are part of the Melrose group of companies which includes a number of the world’s leading lifting equipment manufacturers such as Parsons Chain Co. (UK) and Crosby International (USA).Our factory has Telarc ISO9001 Registered certification. It has also been approved as a manufacturer in accordance with the requirements of Lloyds Register, for Steel Wire Rope.Cookes are also New Zealand’s largest manufacturer and distributor of webbing lifting slings and load restraint equipment with plants in Auckland and ChristchurchCookes have a wide range of natural and synthetic fibre ropes and twines carried in stock.Cookes have a complete inventory of all lifting equipment i.e. alloy lifting chains, Grade 80 and Grade 100, shackles, alloy and steel stamped with SWL, manual and electric chain blocks and lever hoists, and wire rope winches.Cookes are the New Zealand and South Pacific agent for the Manuli brand of hydraulic hose and fittings.
