Cookes are a large engineering company originally founded in 1862 under the name of William Cooke & Company in the U.K, then in 1911 an office was opened in Auckland to handle the distribution of wire rope and associated products in New Zealand.Cookes operate New Zealand’s only wire rope and strand manufacturing plant, and have 13 branches nationwide.Cookes are part of the Melrose group of companies which includes a number of the world’s leading lifting equipment manufacturers such as Parsons Chain Co.
